WALK IN THE SPIRIT
TOP 10 DUMBEST CHRISTIAN BELIEFS book excerpt cont.

Why is it that spirit-filled Christians need the spirit of God to keep them from doing things that ordinary people simply have their conscience to regulate?

The human conscience used to tell us not to lie or hurt others.  Our common sense used to tell us which articles of clothing were appropriate for Sunday morning service and how fast we should drive.

Our home training and personal family pride told us how to treat a lady and how to act on a date.  But now, even those who are supposed to be mature and seasoned Christians are relying on the Holy Ghost to do what unsaved, non-Christians learned through good family upbringing.

They have a conscience and common sense.  We have the Holy Ghost and fire.  They go to movies and watch films, but it is a sin for us to go to the movies because we might have sex?   A good friend of mine who pastors a church in Paducah, Kentucky agreed that we need the Holy Ghost to do these things because the conscience can lead one astray and not everybody has common sense.  While that may sound like an acceptable response to some, the questions remain:

  • Why don't we have common sense?
  • Did it leave when the Holy Ghost came?
  • Why are our young (and old) fire-baptized brothers and sisters gossiping, backbiting, fornicating, lying, and, as he claims, having sex at the movie theaters?

The answer is simple: They are not walking in the spirit.

In Galations 5:16, after the Apostle had admonished his brothers and sisters not to bite and devour one another and to love their neighbor like themselves, rather than giving them strict rules and regulations, he told them to walk in the spirit.

Gal. 5:16:

KJV - "This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh."

NLT - "So I advise you to live according to your new life in the Holy Spirit. Then you won't be doing what your sinful nature craves."

CEV - "If you are guided by the Spirit, you won't obey your selfish desires.

From these passages it is clear that walking in the spirit involves hearing God, obeying scripture and being constantly filled with the Holy Ghost.  There is no rule, law, man, or spirit that can keep us living a holy life if we do not choose to do so voluntarily.

You think the people of your faith are the only ones saved

You accept members from sister churches without consulting their pastor

Your sermons are never about Jesus

Your sermons are always full of empty promises of "blessings"

You are jealous of  TD Jakes & Noel Jones but listen to them secretly

You think that you are cursed if you don't pay tithes

You think it is a sin to wear earrings, pants or go to movies.

You think that the Bible mentions Christmas trees

You think it a sin to celebrate holidays

You have an honorary degree and call yourself "doctor"

You get angry when people question your strange teachings

You think the Internet is NOT of God

You believe that male preachers are superior to female preachers

You use fear to control the church

You think women are NOT supposed to preach or pastor

You still think that evangelism is simply a tent revival

You talk about the preacher that just left but will not confront them

You will baptize anyone that comes to the alter on Sunday mornings

You know when the rapture is coming

You think wearing jewelry is a sin

You think wearing long skirts and bobby socks make you look "saved"

You think God is "blessing" the church because of the number of members

You try to teach & impress others without an in-depth knowledge of anything.

You preach for two hours without saying anything.

Your pastor cannot teach, you know it, but you wont admit it.

EVEN GOD CANNOT CHANGE THE PAST

GOD CANNOT CHANGE THE PAST. He can however, make us forget that a thing has happened, but if he did, he himself would still remember that the thing that was erased from our memories did actually occur. Anything that has come to pass cannot be removed from history nor from the mind of God hence, God cannot change the past.

This fact does not limit him nor does it subtract from his omnipotence. It simply stands as a testament to the fact that we serve an awesome , Intelligent God of principle. A God who, in his sovereignty, chooses to not violate his own laws. It further resolves the fact that most Christians and their pastors do not properly understand the God that they serve.

Deeper still: Despite some of the prevailing religious nonsense that is currently masked as Truth & fact...If fifty million people say a foolish thing, its still a foolish thing!
