Confidence is one of the most misunderstood words among church folks today. Some Christians are so unlearned that whenever they hear a Bible teacher speak with confidence, they immediately label him “arrogant”. Arrogance is an exaggerated self-opinion of one's own importance or ability. Arrogant persons can be rude, unnecessarily competitive and often exemplify jealousy or suspicious rivalry. Confidence on the other hand, is the state or quality of being certain. It is predicated upon an assurance and a belief in one's abilities. Historically, boldness and confidence have been the hallmarks of the Kerux.
